A decent family movie from Nickelodeon Studios. The greatest joy is the fact that this TV movie is worthy of a DVD or Blu-Ray release. The story itself is about a monster obsessed teenage boy and his family that inherit a castle in Romania. When they arrive they are welcomed in the castle by ‘Madame Varcolac’ (Brooke Shields) who worked as a butler / maid for the family’s deceased uncle. The castle itself is enormous and located in a city where they “co-incidently” host a monsters festival. According to a local legend the city is protected from vampires by a werewolf that shows itself every full moon.

Victoria Justice, known for the TV Serie “Victorious”, stars as Jordan Sands: The shy, clumsy sister to her teenager brother. The rest of the cast is decent enough, but they lack the talent that Victoria has. For a titel containing ‘werewolf’ there is little werewolf to be seen and this is perhaps the greatest flaw of the movie. As a spectator you expect to see werewolves, and you get to see them, just shorter than I imagined it. There is no need to compare this movie to movies as ‘Twilight’ as this is a totally different genre (and budget). As a feel-good movie the setting and characters do their job as they manage to give you a warm feeling.

Do not expect thrilling action or mind-blowing special effects as this is a family TV movie. Just sit back and relax, and watch this movie with your kids, niece or nephews to enjoy this lovely family movie.
